Has partial black stencil that looks like it could be "French". Dad labeled it for T. French, from the 6th New York Cavalry so not sure if it was part of a lot of itmes belonging to him. Thomas French was a 2nd Lieutenant and was discharged on account of wounds received in action in 1863. Folds with strap to hold closed. Accordion style pockets, and another section that folds out with linen backing (not sure original). Has embossed oxen and farmer scene.
